The Butler House Stowe is a unique property where every guest reservation is both important and special to us. Thank you for taking the time to review our policies which are meant to provide an enjoyable stay for all of our guests. Please call or email if you have any questions or concerns.
We do not have a front desk. Please follow these instructions for self-check-in:
Check-in anytime after 3:00 pm.
Entering from the back of the building (the parking lot):
A key to your apartment will be left in the Ski Locker room located to the left of the entry door on the small porch on the back of the building. The Ski Locker door has a combination lock; the combo is 1111. Inside you will find a set of keys with your name and apartment number, the red door next to the ski locker in the back entryway into The Butler House. Follow the stairs and find your room number.
Entering from the front (Main Street)
The front door of the Butler House will be unlocked. Upon entering look to your left for the Welcome blackboard where you will find a card with your name and apartment number. Proceed to your apartment; the door will be unlocked and your key will be left inside.
Room #7 The Lounge and Room #9 Parlor Suite
The Lounge and Parlor suite is located on the first floor in the front of the building.
For Room #7 if coming from the parking lot walk along the outside of the left side of the building until you get to a covered porch on the right, #7 is up the stairs. If coming from the front of the building follow the right side until you reach the covered area and #7 is up the stairs to the left.
For Room #9 if parked outback you may enter through the red door once you get your key from the ski locker, you will have to walk up the stairs through the hallway and down the stairs in the front and #9 is at the bottom. You may also walk around the outside of the Butler House to the front door and room #9 is on your left.
Minimum stay requirements vary, but a two-night minimum stay is occasionally required on weekends as well as on holidays, foliage season, and during special events. Please feel free to call to inquire about your specific lodging requests as we can often accommodate your needs.
Check-out time for guests is 11:00 am. When checking out please leave your keys in the room and the door unlocked.
Parking Guests may park overnight in the parking lot behind The Butler House. Please present your parking pass in your vehicle during your stay.
There is a charge of $100 for each key not returned. Please leave all keys in the room at check-out
10% Vermont state rooms tax is applicable to daily rates. All rates are double occupancy, per night (4 person occupancy for the two-bedroom retreat) and are subject to change without notice until reservation is confirmed. The charge for each additional guest over double occupancy is $20 (adhering to maximum occupancy for the room).
Reservations must be secured by a deposit equal to one night’s stay and charged to a major credit card. Balance is due 14 days prior to arrival.
Because of our small size, cancellations and no-shows affect us significantly. For this reason:
Please do not bring your snowboards and skis into your room. Store them in the Ski Locker.
If a guest does not arrive and honor their reservation or contact us to cancel, they will be charged for the full amount of the stay.
Butler House maintains a NON-SMOKING environment. Smoking is allowed outdoors only. Ashtrays are available for your use outside. Please be courteous to others, smoking away from the house or open windows, and please pick up after yourself. If evidence of smoking is found in your room, cleaning charges of $200 will be billed to your credit card.
Regretfully, we do not accept pets.
We have travel cribs for small children, there is a one-time additional $20 charge for a crib.
Items left behind at the Butler House can be sent to you via mail at your request. The cost of shipping + packaging fee (rounded to the next whole dollar) and $5 handling and packaging fee will be billed to your credit card.
