Butler House Stowe Policies
The Butler House Stowe is a unique property where every guest reservation is both important and special to us. Thank you for taking the time to review our policies which are meant to provide an enjoyable stay for all of our guests. Please call or email if you have any questions or concerns.
Check-In: Important please read!
We do not have a front desk. Please follow these instructions for self-check-in:
Check-in anytime after 3:00 pm. Check-out is at 11:00 a.m.
We now use a keypad lock system and the code to access your room will likely be the last 4 digits of the phone number we have on your reservation unless otherwise notified. The code for the door, laundry room, and ski locker is 1122. The front door will remain unlocked.
Entering from the back of the building (the parking lot):
Enter through the red door, inside you will find a card with your name and apartment number.
Entering from the front (Main Street)
The front door of the Butler House will be unlocked. Upon entering look to your left for the Welcome blackboard where you will find a card with your name and apartment number.
Entering Room #7
If coming from the parking lot walk along the outside of the left side of the building until you get to a covered porch on the right.
If coming from the front of the building, use the walk on the right side.
For Room #9
If coming from the parking lot, enter through the red door at the back of the building, you will have to walk up the stairs, down the hallway and down the front stairs. You may also walk around the outside of the Butler House to the front door and Apartment #9 is on your left.
Minimum Stay
Minimum stay requirements vary, but a two-night minimum stay is occasionally required on weekends as well as on holidays, foliage season, and during special events. Please feel free to call to inquire about your specific lodging requests as we can often accommodate your needs.
Check-out
Check-out time is 11:00 a.m.
Rates and Cancellations
10% Vermont state rooms tax is applicable to daily rates. All rates are double occupancy, per night (4 person occupancy for the two-bedroom retreat) and are subject to change without notice until reservation is confirmed. The charge for each additional guest over double occupancy is $20 (adhering to maximum occupancy for the room).
Payment
Reservations must be secured by a deposit equal to one night’s stay and charged to a major credit card. Balance is due 14 days prior to arrival.
Cancellations
Because of our small size, cancellations and no-shows affect us significantly. For this reason:
- Deposits will be refunded, less a $30 processing fee, only with notification of at least 14 days prior to scheduled check-in or 30 days for reservations of 5 days or more.
- Cancellations made 14 days or fewer (30 days for reservations of 5 days or more) from scheduled check-in will forfeit their payment. However, if we are able to re-book the room(s) we will refund your payment less a $30 processing fee.
- Guests arriving after or departing before the dates reserved are responsible for the entire stay.
Other Policies
Snowboards/Skis
Please do not bring your snowboards and skis into your room. Store them in the Ski Locker.
No Shows
If a guest does not arrive and honor their reservation or contact us to cancel, they will be charged for the full amount of the stay.
Smoking
Butler House maintains a NON-SMOKING environment. Smoking is allowed outdoors only. Ashtrays are available for your use outside. Please be courteous to others, smoking away from the house or open windows, and please pick up after yourself. If evidence of smoking is found in your room, cleaning charges of $200 will be billed to your credit card.
Pets
Regretfully, we do not accept pets.
Forgotten Items
Items left behind at the Butler House can be sent to you via mail at your request. The cost of shipping + packaging fee (rounded to the next whole dollar) and $5 handling fee will be billed to your credit card.
